In 2003 Barb and her husband Dave left Powell River, BC with $300, a load of driftwood, blackberry sauce and faith and paid for their coast to coast RV trip by selling at markets. That trip led to Barb writing RV Canada On A Dime And A Dream which they took on tour from west coast to Newfoundland in 2007. Where ever they go they reach out to people, encouraging them to reach higher, to make their dreams come true no matter their age or income. She is now writing the next book in the RV series to take to the far north in 2009 where her big dream is to sell books in Tuktoyuktuk.

Finding her niche among RV’ers she’s been a presenter at three RV shows while promoting her book. The organizers described her as “captivating, entertaining and informative.” She will be speaking at the RV Lifestyle Seminar in Kelowna June 21-23/08. She uses Power Point only has a visual highlight to her talks which are geared to audience interaction.

Her lifetime love for writing and photography came together when she started the writer’s group Sassyscribes in 2002 locally and online. From there she founded the Powell River Festival of Writers five years ago. This bi-annual event gives writers the benefit of skilled presenters teaching the craft of writing. As a free lance writer for magazines she has showcased her travels along with her story-telling skills and attracted quite a following of RV’ers.

Known as a lifer in the Sunshine Speakers Toastmasters club, Barb loves improving her communication and leadership skills while giving back to the commmunity. She has been an active member for 7 years, serving on the executive for 6 of those, and winning many speech contests.
